Investigating the relationship between metacognitive beliefs, and premenstrual syndrome and depression caused by that, in female students studying at tehran university of medical sciences
The purpose of this research was studying the relation between meta-cognitive beliefs on premenstrual syndrome and depression caused by that in female students of tehran university of medical sciences.
Methods
The statistical society of this study was female students of tehran university of medical sciences in years 2017-2018; 75 persons were selected randomly. the tools for collecting data were metacognitive questionnaire, beck depression inventory and menstrual symptoms questionnaire. at last, the final data were analyzed by regression analysis done by spss software.
Results
The results of this study revealed that negative meta-cognitive beliefs about uncontrollable worries have a significant relationship with premenstrual syndrome (p <0.05), there is also a significant relationship between all ineffective meta-cognitive beliefs and depression in menstruation of women (p <0/05).
Conclusion
The characteristics of metacognitive beliefs can be effective in the persistence of premenstrual syndrome and its associated depression.
