The effect of aerobic training with pomegranate juice on glycemic control and lipid profile women with type 2 diabetes

Abstract
Introduction
Type 2 diabetes is a common metabolic disease, which is associated with obesity and immobility. the studies have shown that high amounts of polyphenols in pomegranate juice have effect on obesity and diabetes. on the other hand, the aerobic exercise reduce reduces the complications of diabetes. the purpose of this study was to investigate the synergistic effect of these 2 factors (pomegranate juice and aerobic exercise) on blood glucose, lipid profile, anthropometric index and blood pressure in diabetic patients
Methods
In this study, 60 women with type 2 diabetes who were referred to tehran lorzadeh clinic were randomly divided into 4 groups (pomegranate extract, control, pomegranate extract and practice, practice). the training groups participated in the aerobic training program for two months each week contains three sessions (training time from 20 minutes to 45 minutes and 60-75% heart rate). three days before and after exercise (12 hours of fasting) blood test was taken. data were analyzed by anova and t.student (p≤0.05)
Results
Fasting blood sugar, glycosylated hemoglobin, body mass index, waist circumference, hip circumference, body fat%, abdominal fat, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein and triglyceride decreased significantly (p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.05, p <0.01, p <0.05, p <0.05) while the percentage of muscle and high density lipoprotein did not have any significant difference.
Conclusion
The results of this study indicate that pomegranate juice and aerobic exercise have beneficial effects on type 2 diabetes and should be recommended in their therapeutic program.
