Abstract

Introduction

today, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer after breast cancer among women and it`s considered dangerous cancer with a mortality rate of 25%. in this research, we have tried to analyze the effect of vaginal probiotic lactobacilli on the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer with considering the importance of treating cancer with the least complications, and probiotic products that usually do not cause complications for the patient. the most important cause of cervical cancer is infection with the human papillomavirus (hpv). women with hpv have a greater amount of probiotic bacteria in their vaginal area. these bacteria play an important role in reducing the amount of hpv infection.

Methods

A review of pubmed, elsevier, google scholar, and the nutrition and cancer book was done with the use of key words such as probiotic lactobacilli, cervical cancer and human papillomavirus.

Results

An overview of the subject showed that the two hpv oncoproteins (e6 and e7) have a repressive effect on human rb and p53 genes, as well as apoptosis, which results in cancer. one of the mechanisms of these bacteria in the cancer inhibition is increasing immunity by stimulating the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines from dendritic cells. another effective mechanism of these bacteria is the cell wall compounds including the cell culture supernatant with the most efficient, and exopolysacharides.

Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that probiotic lactobacilli in the vaginal region have a significant effect on causes of cervical cancer, including hpv.
