Abstract
Introduction
Background: food restriction (fr) and dopaminergic system affect on anxiety behavior, but it has not been determined the anxiety behavior and serum biochemical factors changes due to the interaction between the fr and dopamine d2 receptors.
objective: investigating the involvement of dopaminergic d2 receptor in the fr effects on anxiety behavior.
Methods
Forty two adult male wistar rats (180-220g) were divided into 7 groups including: control, sham, 25%, 50%, 75% fr, 75% fr with sulpride and control with sulpride (60 µg/rat). animals intake their diet for 20 days. sulpride was injected intracrebroventricularly (icv) one week after the surgery. one hour after each injection anxiety behavior was measured by elevated plus maze for 5 min. also the levels of corticosterone, glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride were measured in rats’ serum. data were analyzed by anova test.
Results
The results showed that the 75% fr had significant increase on anxiety behavior indices (p=0.007) and sulpride injection had significant decrease on anxiety induced by fr. sulpride injection had significant decrease on glucose levels (p=0.001), there was a significant increase on corticosterone levels in the 75% fr with sulpride compared to 75% fr (p=0.009). also control with sulride(p=0.008) had significant decrease compared to control on cholesterol levels. the levels of try in the 50% fr had significant increase compared to control group (p=0.005).
Conclusion
It seems that dopamine d2 receptors play a role in controlling the anxiety behavior induced by food restriction and improvement the serum biochemical factors.
