Comparison of antibacterial activity of essential oil of varieties of calendula plant from varamin (iran) on escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus
Uncontrolled use of conventional antibiotics and synthetic antibacterial medicine has led to the proliferation of microbial resistance to drugs. regarding the problems caused by drug resistance, it is imperative to achieve new methods for inhibiting resistant microorganisms. therefore, in this research, the inhibitory ability of the essential oil of calendula plant on two pathogenic bacteria was investigated.
Methods
The effect of essential oil was determined by disc diffusion detection and mic values were obtained by microdilution broth method.
Results
In this study, the antibacterial properties of the essential oil of calendula plant in two vetiver of nana systros and nana orange on two bacteria of escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus were studied and it was determined that both vetiver have no antibacterial effect on staphylococcus aureus bacteria but have a bacterial effect on e. coli. it was found that nana orange has a greater impact on this bacterium than nanosietros.
Conclusion
Based on the results of this study, the high ability of calendula essential oil in opposition with the selective gram negative bacteria was confirmed and this essential oil was suggested as an appropriate option for this strain.
