Abstract
Introduction
The aids process is very complex and can significantly affect the physical, social, spiritual and psychological health of individuals. nowadays, to promote the mental health of individuals suffering from aids to better adapt to the disease complications, it is quite important to study the psychological factors affecting the development of the patients’ psychological disorders. based on this, this study is to determine the relationship between resilience and mental disorders in patients with aids in bandar abbas center for behavioral diseases.
Methods
this descriptive-correlational study was carried out on 85 patients with aids referred to the center in 2016. introduced by hormozgan university of medical sciences, researchers selected the cases randomly. inclusion criteria included aids according to elisa and western blot test, lack of dementia and major psychiatric disorders, chronic disease; and exclusion criteria were lack of cooperation in responding to the questionnaire and unwillingness to participate in the study. in this research, psychological disorders questionnaire (scl-90) and convergence davidson's resilience scale were used. data were analyzed by spss-21 software using multivariable regression analysis (p-value ≤ 0/001).
Results
Results showed the mean score of patients was 47.51 ± 14.24. there was a significant relationship between resiliency and obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety, aggression, phobia, and psychosis in patients with aids (p-value ≤ 0.001). however, there was no significant relationship between depression and paranoid thoughts (p-value = 0.553)
Conclusion
It can be concluded that resilience has an acceptable impact on the mental disorders of aids patients, and mental health providers should pay more attention to the psychological health of such patients and help them with mental health.
