  • Introduction: Liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is one of the most common and deadliest forms of cancer worldwide. Various factors including viral infections, environmental toxins, and genetic elements play a role in the development of this disease. In this study, we have explored the role of the OIT3 gene and its association with miRNA hsa-mir-3615, SNP rs745666, and LNC FAM78B-AS1 in the progression of HCC.
  • Methods: Gene expression data were extracted from the GEO database with the identifier GSE: 136247. Bioinformatic analyses were conducted to identify gene expression patterns and their correlation with disease progression. Additionally, the impact of SNP rs745666 on the expression of the OIT3 gene and its interaction with miRNA hsa-mir-3615 and LNC FAM78B-AS1 was examined. miRNA and snp were obtained from miRNASNP v3 database. And LncRRIsearch and genecards were used to obtain lnc.
  • Results: Findings indicated that the OIT3 gene is significantly downregulated in HCC samples compared to normal levels. The SNP rs745666 was associated with the reduced expression of OIT3, and this downregulation may occur through interaction with miRNA hsa-mir-3615 and LNC FAM78B-AS1. These findings highlight the important role of these molecules in gene regulation and the progression of HCC.
  • Conclusion: Our study suggests that OIT3 could serve as a biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC progression. Furthermore, interactions between SNP rs745666, miRNA hsa-mir-3615, and LNC FAM78B-AS1 could be considered as new targets for targeted therapies. These insights could contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches for HCC.
