Abstract
Introduction
Two kinds of intestinal disorders included inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome have a strong negative effect on quality of lifein patients and impose economic costs. dysbiosis in gut microbiota is one of the important factor in ibd and ibs
Methods
Fecal samples were obtained from9 ibs patients, 11ibd patients and 17 healthy subjects. oral samples were obtained from from patients, too. fecal samples were cultured to isolate yeasts and were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction to detection of bifidobacterium spp, lactobacillus spp, and clostridium difficile.
Results
The pcr analysis of fecal samples revealed a decrease in the level of bifidobacterium spp. and lactobacillus spp. in patients, whereas no decrease were observed in healthy subjects. while there was an increase in the level of clostridium difficile in patients compared to healthy subjects and no yeast can be isolated from healthy subjects.
Conclusion
Decreased bifidobacterium spp. and lactobacillus spp. in fecal samples of patients, increased yeasts and clostridium difficile in patients compared to healthy subjects indicated a role of microbiotic composition in ibs and ibd pathophysiology
